My NTS Journey Continued – Sarah Schill

Several months ago, Sarah participated in “My NTS Journey”, the first of her story. Today, we follow up with the next chapter, seeing where NTS has taken her in the time that has passed. 

As of today, how long have you been with NTS? 

I’ve been with NTS for 18 months. I started back in August of 2020 as an independent contractor. Then, I moved into a full-time position in October of 2020.  

How do you feel NTS has supported your personal choices while balancing career goals for you? 

That’s a great question. I absolutely feel NTS has supported me as an employee. I started out as a consultant, moved into the Internship program, then moved into an Engineering Program Manager role. While in the PM role, I was expecting my first baby! That changed my mindset toward what I wanted my career to look like. I expressed to HR that I might be looking to make some career changes based on becoming a new mom. I’m still here today because that change was supported by HR and the NTS leadership. My new role allows me to marry my unique background of business and program management together while being the best parent I can to my son. 

Has NTS’s support of your career path and personal choices been a factor in your commitment to stay with us? If so, why? 

It absolutely has. I think with other companies – as you mentioned before – they won’t let you move, right? You’re ambitious in one area and then life happens. This organization supports my goals as a working mom. I think as my life changes, I see a future with NTS beyond where I’m at now. In addition to that, I’m a military spouse and we move around a lot. A great thing about NTS is they support all families, but they definitely support military families and understand the unique challenges associated with them. 

What is the Number One benefit to you as an NTS employee?

I think it’s the family culture, especially here at the Mission Support Center. We treat each other like family. We love coming to work. We believe in the mission. We care about each other outside of work. That’s the number one benefit!
